Brought to life through the artistic talents of Gooitzen van der Meer, the splendid fairy-wren (Malurus splendens) is a striking animal, easily identifiable by the male wren's blue breeding plumage with bands of black across the base of the tail, breast, beak, through the eyes and across the back of its neck.
